FAQs

Q. How is my merchant contribution distributed?
A. The Locals Care businesses agree to commit a percentage of every qualifying transaction, 4% to the Locals Care program.

Q. What if cardholders have questions about the program?
A. We provide support materials for you and your employees with answers to most questions that cardholders may have. We have a call center available to Locals Care cardholders and, of course, this website provides detailed information.

Q. What if some of a customer’s purchases qualify for Locals Care Community Points and some don’t?
A.

  1. Using your company’s usual procedure, the cashier makes a sale through your cash register or POS system.

  2. The cashier then swipes the Locals Care card through the POS system and enters the dollar amount of the qualifying portion of the transaction.

  3. Locals Care software computes Community Points and donation amounts on the qualifying amount only.

Q. Will the Locals Care software work with my existing credit card processing system?
A. Most likely. Our software is designed to integrate with most major processing systems. We test the system at each Locals Care business location to make sure the interface is seamless. Once it’s fully tested, all you or your employee needs to do is swipe the customer’s Locals Care Community Card or LANB Visa® Gold card or LANB Visa debit card and enter the qualifying amount. Our software does the rest, including giving the cardholder updated totals on their receipt, instantly rewarding them for shopping at your business!

Q. Are my Locals Care donations tax-deductible?
A. You should consult your tax advisor, of course, for information as it relates to your specific tax situation. We have found that it is usually more advantageous for the business to expense these costs rather than to deduct them.
