Here’s how the Locals Care program works. A customer can make a Locals Care purchase in one of three ways. He or she can present a:
The participating Locals Care business agrees to contribute a percentage of each Locals Care transaction to the program, usually 4% of the purchase amount. The merchant contribution generates Community Points (reward points) for the customer and donations for the participating nonprofit organization that he or she selected when registering the card.
The customer accumulates Community Points with each qualifying purchase. When the customer has generated $10 for charity, they earn a $10 credit, which can be “spent” only at Locals Care merchants. Community Points are usually available for redemption for purchases the following day.
Customers may “spend” their credits on meals, merchandise or services
at Locals Care businesses.
