Nonprofit Program
The Locals Care program helps to support the vital role that nonprofit organizations play in our community. Locals Care supports organizations with programs that focus on children, in education, and the arts.
The program offers qualified organizations an opportunity to receive ongoing, sustainable revenues to help meet their critical needs. As a turnkey program, Locals Care can help free nonprofit staff and volunteers from some fundraising and development activities, allowing them to focus on more time and energy on programs and services.
It’s Convenient and User-friendly
Locals Care allows cardholders to choose to direct gifts to a specific
organization. Each time the card is used, the organization earns donation
dollars and supporters earn Community Points that they can redeem for
merchandise, meals, and services at Locals Care businesses.
Every qualifying transaction is a “gift” to
your organization.
Locals
Care business partners agree to “gift” a portion
of every transaction made with a Locals Care Community Card or Locals Care-branded
credit card to the participating nonprofit organization selected by the cardholder.
There is no cost to nonprofit organizations to participate in the program.

Supporting our community’s nonprofit organizations is good for business.
The Locals Care program creates powerful incentives for residents to shop and
dine at locally owned businesses.
Consumers earn rewards (Community Points) for the purchases they make at locally owned Locals Care businesses. They can redeem their Community Points for merchandise and services at any Locals Care participating merchant.
The participating nonprofit organization that the cardholder selects earns a donation with every qualifying Locals Care purchase.
The Locals Care program is a win/win/win: for consumers, for locally owned businesses and for our community’s nonprofit organizations.
Here’s how the program works:
- It’s easy for consumers to receive and use their Locals
Care Community Card. It’s as simple as picking up a card from any Locals
Care participating business or using a participating bank credit or debit card.
Cardholders register their card at the merchant, at a branch of participating
bank or on this website.
- When they register the card, they indicate the participating nonprofit organization
they want to support.
- Cards distributed by participating nonprofit organizations
are already linked to the issuing organization.
- Los Alamos National Bank, a Locals Care banking sponsor, has automatically enrolled the bank’s Visa® credit card and debit card customers in the Locals Care program. Consumers who have a Visa® Gold credit or debit card issued by Los Alamos National Bank can use the card as a Locals Care Community Card.
